Catalog Envy: A Living Room to Live In

Up until a week ago I have been very much against home ownership.  I think, for some, it is fine and for others, not so much.  I like the idea of calling someone to fix what needs to be fixed and I like not worrying about property taxes and the such but over the last week or so the Husband and I have been discussing buying.

Yep, buying.

I need a minute.

Sigh.

Yup, I think we are ready to own.

While this discussion is starting, I am distracting my self with imagining redecorating my living room.

My living room is an odd shaped rectangular room with the front door right dab in the middle so arranging the furniture has been a challenge.  Of course, thanks to pinterest - I now have some new ideas to work with for rearranging the furniture and a whole new "if only" board.

It dawned on me, thanks to the pin above, that I can have a sitting area! I have no idea why this never occurred to me before but I plan on rearranging my living room next.

I have always wanted one of these. I hate the idea of a traditional coffee table but this, this is furniture.

I have a decorative tin thingy now that holds the kid's toys that are in the living room but this I can push around (or out of the way) while collecting the toys.

Changing the lighting and a new way to hang the family photos is a great way to freshen a room but at the end of the day I just want a room we can live in and call our own, renting or otherwise.

Do you have a case of catalog envy?

Catalog Envy with Spark Studio #sponsored

I have not written about my catalog envy for quite some time and now, thanks to Walmart Labs, they are going to pay me to write about it.

Because of pinterest, my addiction to "catalog" perfect homes has grown.  And, now that I have discovered Spark Studio, I have added a new pinterest board.  Sure I already have several pinterest boards dedicated to my habit of gazing longingly at other people's homes but what's one more board...?

My Spark of Inspiration board is full of the fantastic things I found in the Walmart Spark Studio.  Did I go a little crazy?  Of course I did!  With Spark Studio, you can browse and shop products by:
1) Inspirations- Items by Walmart shoppers on Pinterest
2) Fashion and Beauty- Discover must-haves from Walmart shoppers
3) For the home- Solutions and ideas from Walmart fans
4) Babies- Search the top picks from Pinterest moms
5) Pets- Find everything you will need for your pet
6) Playtime-  A collection of items to entertain the whole family
You can even narrow your search to color and by what is recent or popular.  Find an image you like and click to see the description.  If you like it, pin it.  Want to buy it?  Click the image again and it will take you to the Walmart site to purchase it.  Easy peasy!

I have been daydreaming about redoing my living room, starting with a new area rugs.  I have all hard wood floors and I love earth tones so I started my search in Inspirations and the color brown. Seeing what others pinned certainly got me thinking and I found a rug I loved and would perfect with our home.

I also found one that I just love when I searched in the color red but does not fit with the rest of the house.

As I searched browns in For the Home, I came across this great ottoman coffee table.  This is definitely a versatile and sophisticated piece and I can wipe off any sticky hand prints.
I could not resist checking out the patio furniture.  I absolutely want this set for our backyard.
While I was daydreaming in red I came across this...

Who doesn't need one of these all year round?

Okay, your turn!  What inspires you?

Catalog Envy

From Catalog Living
I want the rooms that are in catalogs.

I look longingly at catalogs wishing my home was so clean and perfect.  I gaze dreamily at the products wishing I could afford to have what ever is advertised and the know how to put it all together so it looks lived in but clean.  That last part is what I envy the most.  Clean.  Everything has a place and I have enough room for everything.

Never a dirty dish left out on the counter to crust over requiring a lengthy soak time before scrubbing it with some heavy duty scrubbing agent.  No food found stuck between the folds of the couch cover - that is hiding a stained couch.  No stepping on legos that have escaped their place.  No pieces of corn that the baby flung from the high chair.
