Spending the Day with Girl Scouts at Playhouse Square

This is a conversation is sponsored by Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Opinions are my own.
Spending the Day with Girl Scouts and Playhouse Square

When I signed RD up for Girl Scouts, I had no idea how much I would gain from it. Since she started, we helped clean up a beach, learned to decorate cupcakes for Halloween, and meet some amazing new friends.

Never too late to join the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio!

Our latest adventure may be my new favorite. Playhouse Square partners with Girl Scouts of North East Ohio to present a day at the theater. I should say day and night.

Starting in the afternoon with workshops. We ended the day seeing a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I in the Ohio State Theater. Just over eight hours of theater-themed fun.

Yes, eight hours!

100 Years! Girl Scouts Debuts S'mores Cookies

Can you believe that it's cookie season again!? Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is ready!

This is my Dasiy's second year in the Girl Scouts. This week, a Brownie troop about to advance is hosting a tea party for her Daisy troop to give them insight on being a Brownie. Where has all the time gone?!

Well, before she looks into the pond or crosses the bridge, she has cookies to sell. Not that's hard. They pretty much sell themselves.

One of my favorite things about Girls Scouts are the fun adventures outside of the troop meetings!

Girl Scouts of North East Ohio offers a slew of hands-on events all year long. From cooking and coding to STEM and zip lining, Girl Scouts offers so much to help give our girls the tools they need to be confident women.

Today, we are sharing our latest adventure with the Daisy troop - Whimsical Cupcake Decorating with Chef Amee.

Not knowing what to expect, the girls were in for a real treat! They got to decorate three cupcakes with a Halloween theme!

Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Volunteers

My little Daisy is in her second year with the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. That means more adventures this year and we will be sharing them along the way.

When she started with her troop, I did not know what to expect.

That's a lie. I knew there would be meetings and maybe a field trip. And, I knew there would be cookies. Lots and lots of cookies.

What I did not expect was that everyone would be so nice. From the parents coming to meetings to the volunteers and even other troop moms and dads.

Fun fact: This volunteer and I work together.
I knew friendships would develop, but also best friends were born.

Tour Girl Scouts' Camp Timberlane With Us

Tour Girl Scout's (@GSNEO) Camp Timberlane With Us
This is a compensated conversation  by Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. Opinions are my own.

The school year is coming to a close. For Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio, this means that camping season is almost here! We took our first year Dasy to Camp Timberlane's open house to see what it is in store.

Camp Timberlane is in Wakeman, Ohio which is about an hour west of Cleveland. We could not have asked for a nicer day. The sun was shining and birds were singing.

Girl Scouts Thin Mints Cookie Popcorn Munch

Girl Scouts Thin Mints Cookie Popcorn Munch #howdoyoudunk #recipe

Earlier in the week, I posted a recipe for Thin Mint Cupcakes for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. This is a bonus recipe from the left over Thin Mints. Weird to think that there were leftover cookies...

Thin Mint cookies are the best Girl Scout cookies on the planet. I think we can all agree on that fact. As far as snacking goes, popcorn is right up there so why not combine the two?!

I wish I could take claim for this one, but it is the brainchild of Amber Szydlo. As it happens, I was on treat duty for this week's Girl Scout meeting and had two boxes left over from making cupcakes, it was serendipitous.

The recipe is super simple!

Decadent Girl Scout Thin Mints Cupcake with Whipped Ganache

This post has been com[ensated by North East Ohio Girl Scouts. All opinions are my own.

If you happen to be waiting for your Girl Scout cookie order, your wait is almost over!

Pretty soon Girl Scouts will be delivering boxes of delicious cookies all over their neighborhoods and will be opening cookie booths at area stores. In fact, Girl Scouts of the USA has declared February 26-28, 2016 National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend.

Helping my Dasiy sell Girl Scout cookies has been quite an adventure. She has made phone calls, asked relatives, and will soon be delivering orders. With each sale, she grows more confident in her task which helped her to meet her goal.

Selling cookies are only a small part of the Girl Scout experience, but vital. Money from each box of cookies sold help support her Girl Scouts of North East Ohio troop and activities that they will do.

Cookie booths begin March 3, so you haven't missed out, yet. Download the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder on Apple and Android, or visit girlscoutcookies.org to find a booth in your neighborhood.
To celebrate this special weekend, I teamed up with Girl Scouts of North East Ohio to recreate a recipe from the Girl Scout website. Let me start by saying that having four boxes of Thin Mints at home and not eat any has been crazy hard. But, the cupcake I made was well worth the wait! I know I shouldn't brag, but sometimes I forget that I'm a good baker.

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time! Helping Her Become a #CookieBoss

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time! Helping Her Become a #CookieBoss
I have been compensated by Girl Scouts of North East Ohio to facilitate this post.
All opinions are my own.

When my little Daisy decided that she wanted to join a troop I was really excited! The first reason, she will look super cute in her uniform. The second reason, she will have an opportunity to learn valuable life skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. And, I'd have an in to get those amazing Thin Mints!

Our troop's first big group activity was to attend a Girl Scout of North East Ohio cookie rally. I had no idea what to expect but let me start by saying - cookie season preparation is no joke. Besides tools the girls receive within their troop and online, cookie rallies go a few steps further to offer a fun, activity-packed afternoon showing girls how to run a successful business.

Her Journey with Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Starts Today

This is a sponsored post; I was compensated for my work by Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, but all words and opinions are my own.

Her Journey with @GSNEO Starts #GirlScoutsRock

I can't wait to

On my honor, I will try
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

My own Girl Scout career was very short and not very memorable, but when I was asked to write about the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, those words came back to me.

I remember wearing my Girl Scout uniform to school on the days we had meetings. I was so proud to wear it, especially when asked about my badges. I wanted my little girl to feel that same sense of pride, but I had no idea where to start. Sadly, unless a flyer comes home from school, posted on Facebook or emailed to me, I have no idea what’s going on.

I wanted to work with GSNEO, because if I had trouble finding information, other moms may as well. Why did I not just go to the Girl Scout website? I guess I was waiting on a flyer like it was the 90’s.
