3 Quotes That Perfectly Describe Married Life

3 Quotes That Perfectly Describe Married Life

Mawwage. Mawwage is what bwings us together today.”

Can you hear the clergyman?

Marriage is hard. It's a lot of work and compromise. I can't imagine another way.

I see the marriage challenge all over my Facebook feed. It's sweet, but I don't want to share my marriage with others. I don't have anything to prove.

Marriages and relationships are falling apart all around. They were the ones that constantly declared their love for their spouse ad nauseam.

Our first years weren't easy. I thank God regularly that we came out together on the other side. I don't want to jink our future in a social media challenge. Marriage is challenging enough. I will share some of my favorite quotes about being married that speak to my heart.

50 Shades of Ambiance + Win $100 for the @StoreforLovers! #sponsored

50 Shades of Ambiance @StoreforLovers + Enter to Win $100! #sponsored

As a lifelong Northeast Ohio gal, I can honestly say that I know all about Ambiance, the Store for Lovers.

Not always of course, I first asked my mom what they sold once when I was young, to which she replied, "marital aids," and would say nothing more. I found out but never told her!

Ambiance is the store to go to when feeling amorous and not wanting to feel dirty afterwards. I am one of those gals that enjoys going with the Hubs to look, feel, and maybe even giggle a little over the displays. I have hosted (and was a consultant for) sex toy parties and I have been to the seedier joints; I shop online, but nothing compares to the Ambiance experience. Ambiance also has an outstanding website to buy from, too!

Ambiance is a brightly lit boutique, no shady backroom or creepy salespeople to make you feel dirty. In fact, the ladies who were working when the Hubs and I went were open, kind, and very helpful without being o-v-e-r-l-y helpful. I like to browse, not discuss but when I did have questions they had answers.

I'm Giving My Husband Another Woman for Valentine's Day #SharetheLove

Okay, so maybe I won't be getting my husband another woman for this Valentine's Day (wink, wink) but I'm working hard to feel like one.

Yes, dear readers (ladies or otherwise), I said working on it.  Even as I type this I'm working on making my lady bits feel like a whole new woman.

{insert canned laughter}

I am talking kegel exercises, girls.

K E G E L!

Squeeze 1... 2... 3... release and repeat.

What is on Your Wish Sexy List?

this post contains affiliate links

I have shopped for the kids, the husband, the mailman and that co-worker two cubicles over from me that I got in the office gift exchange. I have wrapped and tagged the gifts that need to be wrapped and tagged and the gifts that need to be built or batteried are waiting in the wings. I have hung every single ornament, in every bare space imaginable and I did so with glee. I have even baked till I could bake no more (but still have to because Santa will need more).

Could there be any more to do to make this Christmas bright?

Yes!

Have you taken a moment to put together your list?
And, not the practical list either - I'm talking about that other list?

The naughty list!

Sweet candy cane

Sex kitten wicked wax – massage candle
I love, love, love this kind of candle! Light the candle and the room fills with a wonderful scent and once the wax starts to melt you pour it into your hands (or on to a body part) to use in massage or to just keep the skin soft. I admit that when the winter winds get to be too much, I will lite it during my shower and then used the wax as lotion.

Please Be Discreet? Why Get Married?

Please Be Discreet? Why Get Married?

Marriage is hard. It is not always fun, all though there are a lot of funny moments, and it is difficult to make another person happy, especially, when you have two little ones and a full time job. It is doable if two people want to put in the work but, it is work. Marriage is a lot harder then anyone said it would be and no one said it would be easy.

So I wonder, why get married?

Okay, I don't really wonder that, but I have been asked the question, "why did you get married" or my favorite, "how did you know he was the one." Now that some time has passed since I said, "I do" I feel the reasons have evolved. It was so simple when he asked and now - kids, a house and bills, it would be financially irresponsible to ever want to part. Oh, and of course, I love him.

We have have changed over the years and (hopefully) grown as human beings but after the honeymoon period, I have seen behind the curtain and I still stay... It must be because I love him and probably because he can make me laugh and who knew he could cook?

I've been to three weddings and two funerals this past summer and I can't help but reflect on life and marriage - how I got to where we are, where we are going and what will happen to the kids as they grow. My first grader all ready told me he was never leaving us but then decided that when he gets married he is moving into the apartment building across the street from our house. I would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.

But... Back to my questions on life and marriage. Why get married? Why stay married? And, is it realistic to expect two, sane adults to spend the rest of their lives together in this world of instant gratification? Is it reasonable to expect monogamy? Is discreet infidelity necessary to make a happy marriage?

The two funerals that I attended where for two men, who had out lived their respective spouses by five years. They were both grandfathers and great grand fathers. They were probably, great great grandfathers, too, and their marriages survived till death. That is a lot of years in between saying I do and saying good bye one last time and I wonder what challenges they experienced in their career as a spouse.

My grandparents, my mom's parents, lived as man and wife for over 25 years. There seems to be more examples of marriages staying together in my family then there are divorces so you would think that I would not wonder if marriages last but wonder how they fall apart instead. One piece of advice that seems to stick in the recesses of my mind is - You may not always like your husband but you will always love him. Maybe that is how they did it? Or, was there someone on the side?

Today, it is so easy to get bored, give in, give up, and move on... I wonder - why bother in the first place? Unless you are willing to do it for the long haul... why waste every body's time? Or... what
changes that spouses can no longer provide for you?

I admit it. I like to look and even flirt but there has to be a line somewhere. Shouldn't there be a line? Do spouses look outside their marriages to save them? Does that even make sense? And wouldn't it make more sense to include the spouse in your fling if you are trying to save your marriage?

Cheating is not a new concept but the means to meet your “piece of ass on the side” is newer. Want to have a fling with another married man or woman? There is a website for that, probably an app, too. Get bored? Post something on Craigslist or a shout out on Facebook. Cheat in a tweet? Everybody has their own cell phones and emails - no need to work on cheating, half the battle is/was keeping encounters secret and all ways to do so are now guarded with secret passwords. It is easier to meet someone new then it is to work on a marriage. So why get married if everyone is going to stray?

Looking at the pictures from the weddings I attended, I see in their faces why we get married. There is so much love and hope as they look deep into each others eyes and you just know that their marriage will last. Their marriage will defy the odds. They will look back at a long lifetime of memories.

Why did I get married? I don't remember but I know why I stay married... there is no one else I would rather wake up with then him.

Crushes... Are They Only for the Young or Can They be for the Young at Heart?

post contains affiliate links

I'm feeling a little Carrie Bradshaw with my title:
Crushes... Are They Only for the Young or Can They be for the Young at Heart?
What can I say - another "news" story came on the other day about Facebook and online flirting, yada yada yada.  But the story got me thinking about crushes, flirting and relationships.  I do love how they, the news journalists, make it seem like this is A.) news and B.) new.  Nothing new about this, just the venue that it is delivered.  How this is news is what the real story should be about.

I am not against flirting and I am certainly not against having crushes and it is only when it becomes more than occasional flirting and crosses the crush line that I think things can be dangerous.  For instance, if you deliberately hide a relationship from your significant other, then you may be in trouble of crossing the line or say when the whole office is talking about your daily lunch outings and you still continue with them then it becomes a problem.

With that said... I am also a jealous person so just because in theory I don't mind it, does not mean that I won't necessarily be jealous if it turns out to be innocent and I was not included.  For some reason, for me, being included in the crush or the fantasy is the difference to say Cerebral Wanderlust and Emotional Cheating.  These are just two of the articles I pulled up when I searched "crushes and flirting" on Eden Fantasys' SexIs. Nothing really addressed just a crush.

I Am...Sasha FierceI like having crushes... someone to flirt with and the attention is no doubt an ego boost if it is reciprocated.

The Husband knows, because, I tell him and because they are innocent.  An ego boost.  I certainly don't have many that reciprocate and I don't discriminate between boys and girls.  I also don't often flirt with my crushes because they may live in Hollywood, for instance, or because I like to admire from a far.

I have even written about my earliest crush and I still stand by the whole - 'if the fantasy was realized it would probably disappoint' theory which keeps me from straying.  Well that, and I like monogamy and want to stay married. Not to say that the Husband and I don't have a "freebie list" and if the opportunity for him to be with Beyonce ever comes up, he has my blessing...

There is just something to be said about a good old fashion crush that gets blood moving and inspiration flowing... for later. A reminder of my youth if you will... So here is my question...

Is a crush cheating?
