Date Night or #CoronaRita Night!??

This post brought to you by Chili’s Grill & Bar. All opinions are 100% mine.
CoronaRita sm.jpg
Date night out is a luxury these days.  Sad but true and not just because we are on a budget but because the Husband works crazy hours and then those crazy kids of ours keep us in when we really need to be out.   What is a girl to do?  How do I get my margarita, I mean date night fix?

Well, seeing as it is Cinco de Mayo I say - let's throw caution to the wind, get a sitter and head over for CoronaRita at Chili's! At Chili's we can indulge in the Dinner for Two for $20 and that ah-may-zing looking CoronaRita at Chili's!

I am especially looking forward to the MARGARITA GRILLED CHICKEN which is
Classic Margarita-flavored grilled chicken with hints of lime and citrus, served with rice, black beans, tortilla strips and house-made pico de gallo
Um - yum!  Who could resist a description like that?  Not me!
Knowing the Husband he will be having the CAJUN CHICKEN PASTA
Penne pasta with creamy garlic Alfredo sauce with Cajun spices and topped with tomatoes and green onions
He is either a burger or pasta kind of guy when we go out so I know that he won't be disappointed with either choice.

We both love the TOSTADA CHIPS & FIRE-GRILLED CORN GUACAMOLE appetizer and very pleased to see it as our appetizer option in the dinner for two.  It is very hard for me to resist guacamole but add grilled corn and hello, I'm there!  Best part of the $20 dinner for two? More CoronaRita at Chili's, of course!

What are CoronaRita at Chili's you ask?  Why CoronaRita at Chili's is a Corona in a Classic Margarita - CoronaRita at Chili's!  How brilliant is that!  Don't know if you want a Corona or a Margarita - have both!  And, won't that just be yummy with my margarita grilled chicken!

So, now that you know that we will be hanging out at Chili's for Cinco de Mayo don't think this is an open invite to join us.  I enjoy the open atmosphere as the much as the next person but there is only so much room in the booth for just the two of us.

What is your favorite Chili's dish and will you be trying the CoronaRita at Chili's?

T.G.I. FRIDAY’S “Entrées for One” - Worth it!

This post brought to you by T.G.I. FRiDAY'S. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was so reluctant to try T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One”. It is not that I don't enjoy their line of frozen apps and I love their blended drink mixes but diving into the area of microwave meals?  There is just never enough food in these things they sell in the cardboard boxes.  Not to mention that there is hardly any flavor so when my favorite restaurant (and one I worked a life time ago) introduced their version I was worried.  You see, I don't buy frozen dinners for myself - I buy them for the Husband, usually two dinners are enough to satisfy him during his 12 hour shift.  You can imagine how the cost adds up after awhile.

Would T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One”  be enough?

Upromise Celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a Dream and $20,000!

This post brought to you by UPromise. All opinions are 100% mine.

Dreams are very special and when you journey into parenthood your dreams become even bigger as you start to think about your children's future. We skimp and save, sacrifice and often swallow our pride to put our family's needs first. Thankfully, us modern folks have help like www.upromisetodream.com

Upromise was founded ten years ago with the idea that everybody should be able to afford to go to college. The program is simple, you sign up, buy things online and a percentage of your purchase is "refunded" back to you to put towards a savings account. In other words, it is a "college savings service that harnesses the purchasing power of parents, extended family, family, and students to make it easier to pay for college." (source)

I started my first grader's account while I was pregnant with him and we have since added our baby girl to the account. Their college fund is growing with each click and the money will be invested into a 529 Savings Plan.

In honor of Upromise's 10 year anniversary, they are having a sweepstakes! They are giving away $20,000 in prizes to users who submit their story of how they helped to support a child's dream. To participate go to www.upromisetodream.com and submit your dream. I did and it was so easy. I even uploaded a picture of the kids. Once you do that then check out other submissions and vote on your favorites by "liking" them.

Upromise will give away $1,000 to 10 winners and one grand prize of $10,000 from the entries submitted! For more information see the dream wall official rules. Who knows, you might win!

What to do When Name Brand is not an Option? Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Right before baby girl was born, there was a voluntary recall on certain name brand infant and children's pain relievers.  I did not think anything of it at the time.  For one, my kindergartner very rarely got sick and what was in our cupboard was not on the list.  Secondly, I had other things going on... like having a baby.

I know that sounds like bad parenting but really it's not because I am okay with the kids having a mild fever because it helps the body fight off whatever it is it is trying to fight.  I'm not against it, I just do not reach for pain reliever first.  Then, of course, baby girl needed infant pain reliever and my brand was no where to be found!  So, there I am... in the drug store, on my phone, trying to Google why it was not there - sigh.

Luckily, I was in my local Walgreens and as I stood there, staring at the selection trying to figure out what to do next, I spotted the Walgreens logo on the box of Infants' Pain Reliever Concentrated Drops.  I grabbed the box and headed off to the pharmacist to make sure I was getting the right thing since it was a brand that I knew nothing about and was also a few dollars cheaper then some of the other brands.  I needed to know why and if it would work.

120x30_WalgrensTransparentLogoApparently, Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products has a whole line of products to meet the needs of the family but what I needed was something to take baby's pain away and fast.  Baby girl's shots did not go so well.  She was cranky, angry and had a slight fever.  Now, I know I said that I was okay with a mild fever but baby girl was in pain and the doctor did recommend giving her something if her temp rose and if baby girl seemed in pain.  I explained all of this to the friendly pharmacist and she assured me that this was normal, unfortunately.  She also assured me that the Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products are just as safe, if not safer, then the name brand products and at a lower cost.

PharmacistBesides recommending the Walgreens Infants' Pain Reliever, the pharmacist also explained that there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of the Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products.  That really put my mind at ease.  It also helped to tell me that it has the same active ingredients and is alcohol, aspirin, and ibuprofen free.  As a bonus... dye free and it came with a  dropper!  The dropper might not be a big deal to some but having gone home and realized I had no way to give medicine to a child who does not feel good in the first place - sucks!

While I was there, I also learned that my purchase (and every purchase) of  Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.  Walgreens will contribute up to $3 million annually to the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.  It is good to know that my purchase means more then just a dollar amount to Walgreens.  To learn more about this program visit Walgreens.com/WaytoWell.

Wondering if it worked...?  It did!  Thankfully.  She had no problems taking the medicine from the dropper and I was not worried about staining my shirt when I spilled the bottle on myself - sigh.
