@BloggerIdol News: Art Thief Comes Home

CLEVELAND, Oct. 8, 2013 /BloggerIdol/ -- Renowned art thief, The Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night, was last seen in the City of Cleveland late last week. Sources close to thief claim to have been in recent contact with the burglar ever since she absconded from the Museum of the Nation in Peru with a priceless artifact. This has been verified by local travel agents returning to our area from a corporate retreat in Lima, with newspapers.

Dior & More – For the Love of Fashion
Experts disagree that it is in fact the Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night in Cleveland but everyone is hopeful that if it is, she will be caught before she tries to relieve the Western Reserve Historical Society, a sponsor of this blog, of the American Beauty red haute couture ball gown and the stole which was designed by Bob Bugnand from its collection this month. Of course, if you believe that she is actually doing the work the police have failed to do then you may be ecstatic to see her in our fair city.

The Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night, who also goes by MJ, is not known for high fashion robberies and no one is certain that this is the item she will go after but authorities believe that she leaves clues at her crime scenes to indicate where she will go next.

She was last suspected of taking a priceless Anthropomorphic Vase and leaving a brochure to the Dior & More – For the Love of Fashion exhibit that is currently at the Western Reserve Historical Society.

Anthropomorphic Vase
Local experts speculate that the Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night is actually coming home and she is a lifelong Cleveland resident. Of course it is more likely that MJ (or the Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night) is actually from the suburbs. There is no evidence to indicate either is true, just wishful thinking of the conspiracy theorists that agreed to be interviewed.

Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night is seen by some to be a modern day Robin Hood, stealing from the rich who stole the artwork that should be shared with the public but others see her as a danger to society and a threat to the art world. Regardless of which camp your opinion falls her methods seem to have the results that she intended and out smarted the police who have been chasing the trail of stolen art work.

Authorities are asking for any information leading to the capture of Grand Empress Guinevere of the Night. My editors would like to remind you that I write fiction and I am a judge in Blogger Idol who is hosting a play along weekly link up.

Write a newspaper article about a fictional crime you have committed. Guidelines: You must include at least 2 images, and the post must be between 500-750 words. It must also be written in third person.

It is Blogger Idol time!  And for some strange reason the powers behind this fun blogger event are letting me play judge, again!

Things that will be judged on your audition:
1. Ability to follow the directions.
2. Likeability
3. Appearance of blog
4. Belief that you will appeal to the general public

Week 2 @BloggerIdol Play-at-Home: My Day, His Way

Walk a mile in my shoes took a whole new meaning in the land of Blogger Idol this week and if you plan on playing along here is the prompt:
Write about a day in the life of you. But it wouldn't be Blogger Idol without a twist. You have to write about your day, as if you were the opposite sex! There is no word limit, but make sure to include at least one image.
I thought and thought about this and then thought some more on how I would write this if I was a contestant and thank the stars I am not because this is the week I would be sent home.

I find this assignment even funnier considering the latest study on things that don’t matter:
According to a recent Norwegian study, the divorce rate among couples who share household chores was about 50 percent higher than for those in which the woman takes care of the housework. (Huffington Post)

Yep, pick a side ladies ‘cause you may have to do it a life time if you want that whole till death do we part.  We don't divide chores in our house so I think we will be okay.

In the spirit of supporting Blogger Idol and since I am not judging this week, I am going to attempt this prompt. Thank goodness there is no word count.

This is what I imagine how my Husband would think if he did my day….

Looking at it, it seems my day could be done in a few minutes if it wasn’t for the actually living life part. And, to be fair, I would not change any of it. Unless, we miraculously won the lottery and I could cut out most of the middle part with the job and all. While we are at it, I actually feel this is how I think and not how the Husband thinks.

If you do the prompt be sure to link up and let me know (preferably here, in the comments, so I don't have to guess)! I read almost all of the posts last week and there were some really wonderful bloggers. I tried to comment on most but I can't read captcha so I don't comment, but I tweet. I highly recommend going back to read last week’s play along. I feel like I phoned my post in compared to the ones that played along!

Week One of @BloggerIdol Plus a Play at Home Version

It is Week 1 of Blogger Idol!

The auditions are over and after 150+ submissions the top 13 were announced last week and the first assignment handed out. In case you are reading this and did not know – I am a judge! I didn’t have the never to try out and after seeing all of the brilliant submission, sort of glad I didn’t try out. On the other hand, I can play along, unofficially, but if you would like to play along for real there is a linky for your post.
This week’s prompt:
Your audience needs to get to know you, and be able to connect with you. So, your first assignment is to introduce yourself to them by telling them about a family tradition you have. It can be with extended family or whatever, but it should really give them an idea about who you are.

Ah, Family Traditions. As long as you do it more than once it is a tradition, right? All though I secretly dread the holidays I love the little traditions the Husband and I stated with the kids. Some are play-offs of what we did as kids and some we just made up ourselves. For instance, I am not a fan of overindulging at Christmas time. Plus, when we had our first we were broke so I thought we should limit our gifts to the kid. I remembered hearing a story about giving three gifts based on the three gifts of the wise men and what do you know – a tradition was born.

Each kid gets three gifts, one for each wise man and then one from mom and dad. They also get whatever I can stuff in their stocking. It has really helped me in deciding what they really want and not what getting everything advertised. And, if it was good enough for Baby Jesus, well, I think you get where I am going with this thought.

Another tradition in our little family is Easter cake. I bought this adorable bunny pan and thought it would be fun to decorate it with my oldest when he was three. We now do this every year.

It has also become sort of a family joke because the boy puts so much crap, err, decorations on it that it is way too sweet to eat! Sprinkles, candied sugar and jelly beans are piled on top of frosting and after it is all done it takes a whole lot of imagination to see the bunny. Everybody will take a bite and the boy grins in satisfaction. It really makes the whole thing worthwhile.

I guess that is what is all about, not the big family dinners but the little things that make it all worthwhile.

Do you have a special tradition?

Don’t forget to check out this week’s contestants and sometime today their posts will go live and you can vote for your favorite.
