Nancy Drew mysteries got me hooked on reading.
I loved her strong character and that she drove a cool car. My favorite character was George. I identified with her more than pretty Bess and daring Nancy. I devoured these books well into [my teenage years.
Nancy Drew is back with a fresh new look! Cool, sassy, and smart - this sleuth is just what the next generation of amateur detectives need. My daughter has watched it twice since it has gone digital and I'm sure she will watch it several more times.

Inspired by Instagram: POP Fit Clothing

I've been trying really hard to get to the gym. The hardest part is finding clothes that are practical, fit, and affordable. Oh, and look good!
It's certainly gotten easier for fat girls to find nice looking workout clothes. The challenge for me is finding ones that aren't too trendy. The sheer panels are weird. I am not a fan of crazy patterns. And, I prefer capris. Oh, and I want a pocket.
I'm not asking for much - right?
Scrolling through Instagram, I came across POPfit Clothing. I had seen it several times and scrolled right by it.
I like POP Fits' Instagram and Facebook ads. All types of women, in all sizes and shapes being sassy in their workout gear. There was a lot of mesh so I would keep scrolling.

Last week a friend and I attend Paladar's media night showcasing the newly remodeled restaurant and the Carnival menu.
While I adore BOMBA, I've never been to Paladar. Neither had my friend. I had no idea how much of a treat we would be in for when I accepted the invite.
As Westsiders going east in a mini blizzard, we were welcomed into the warmth of Paladar. The beautiful open space and smiling waitstaff made us feel happy and comfortable right from the start.

We've celebrated birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese, report cards, and the odd rainy Tuesday in the middle of summer. My oldest discovered his love of pizza when he took his first bite of a Chuck E. Cheese pizza. And, my daughter got to experience the thrill of the ticket blaster on her last birthday. I've even planned a PTA fundraiser there a few months ago.

While I didn't think the North Olmsted location needed to be remodeled (and they didn't ask me), I was excited to see all the wonderful changes to our family's favorite restaurant.

Backyard Wilderness at the Great Lakes Science Center
We were provided with tickets to see Backyard Wilderness at the Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater and admission to the Great Lakes Science Center to facilitate this conversation. All opinions are my own.
A few years ago, I stopped home with my son before dashing off to get his sister from daycare. I happened to glance in the backyard and I noticed a deer. It was so still and I was in such a rush that it registered as a memory.
My grandparents had a plaster statue of a deer resting on the ground. It was life-size but not lifelike.
When we walked out of the house the deer had moved. She was beautiful and scary all at the same time. All I could think was she could do some serious damage if she felt threatened by us.
I nudged my then six or seven-year-old to the car and she stared us down with majesty. I had no idea if she decided to claim our backyard as hers or if she planned to leave. Either way, I still had to get the baby from daycare.
I called the city and was informed that we live close enough to the Metroparks that we just had to share.
It was a very real reminder that we are part of a bigger world than our suburb.

Scrolling mindlessly through friends' photos until you are interrupted by a targeted Instagram post or Facebook ad that begs to be seen. Have you ever bought the item?
I have! A few times. And, I've even had success with my purchases.
Around New Years, I was looking to get a new fitness tracker. I passed my Fitbit
off to my husband last year. He was participating in a challenge at work and when the challenge was over, he kept it.
I started going back to the gym last October. By December, I was missing the ease of keeping track of steps and distance using an app. But, Fitbits are expensive. I wanted to see if a less expensive tracker would fit my needs.
And, then I saw an ad for LETSCOM Fitness Tracker. I clicked!
I don't need the heart monitor feature, but the time feature already put the cheaper one at the top of the list for me.
I put up a poll on Amazon Spark. The results of the poll leaned heavily towards LETSCOMS. There were two comments that made me think. Fitbit has a community and Apple Watch is quality.
First off Apple watch was not an option. If I was a long distance runner with a dire need to have detailed stats or an Apple fan, I would have just purchased it. I was clearly looking for a basic tracker.
As for the Fitbit community, I don't care. Yes, it was fun to compete with friends and do the challenges but it was not a motivator for me. At least not enough to drop $50 on something I could get for less.

I hate cleaning house. This is no secret. I'm also really bad at housekeeping. Besides working two jobs and wanting to spend time with my kids, house cleaning always takes a backseat.

, we've watched it several times and I can honestly say, it hasn't gotten old, yet. I'm sure that it will, but for now, it's been a kick to hear the older one and the younger one singing along (and sometimes in the car) to the music.
Besides the music, the animations are large and bold, even on a smaller screen. The writing is clever and original. I mean overcoming the yeti to the human language barrier is pretty humorous.
Can you believe that there has never been a movie about fun-loving Yetis who discover that there really are humans in the world? And, it's a musical!

Avengers: Infinity War | Thanos is Here! Would You Survive?

We are a Marvel Family! Comic books, movies, TV, and even the live action show - if it's Marvel, we've seen it.
The Avengers assemble to prevent Thanos from living out his lifelong quest to achieve balance in the universe. Torture and murder are in his wheelhouse and there was a lot of that going on.

While the husband prepared me for what could happen, he didn't share that with the kids. He's read the comic books. Friday to Sunday, the state of Ohio has given a holiday to sales tax on back-to-school favorites. Clothing priced at $75 per item or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less, and school instructional material priced at $20 per item or less are exempt from sales and use tax.
I'm a little cynical and can't help but wonder if stores now jack up prices this weekend because so many shoppers will be out, trying to save money.

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies! Sidekicks are Superheroes, too!
We received tickets to an advanced to see Teen Titans Go! to the Movies! Opinions are mine.
Robin, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Starfire feel that they get no respect for being superheroes from their peers. While they live in the DC Universe, they aren't on the same level as the big name heroes who get movie deals. Now, my kids were quick to point out that Cyborg is in a movie, but he wasn't the lead. Which is the point, Robin feels they deserve a movie to be seen as the real deal.

We've been counting down the days to see the Teen Titans on the big screen! The whole family.

I've inadvertently taken a social media break. I didn't even realize it until I remembered to post my weekly update!
There is so much I want to share! At the same time, I'm realizing that there isn't a whole lot of time left in my career as a mom. I know that seems odd, I know my kids will always need me. But, not the way they do at this time in their lives. I don't want to miss anything.
I find myself being the one to beg them to do something they've always done in the past. When I realize that I'm doing it, I try to stop. But I can't help that they feel guilty and do it anyway. I hate that they have opinions!

There is so much I want to share! At the same time, I'm realizing that there isn't a whole lot of time left in my career as a mom. I know that seems odd, I know my kids will always need me. But, not the way they do at this time in their lives. I don't want to miss anything.
I find myself being the one to beg them to do something they've always done in the past. When I realize that I'm doing it, I try to stop. But I can't help that they feel guilty and do it anyway. I hate that they have opinions!
Last weekend was the annual plane pull for Special Olympics.

We're Eel-ing Over Changes to Greater Cleveland Aquarium! It's Fin-tastic
We received admission to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium to facilitate this conversation. Opinions are mine.
We haven't been to the aquarium since 2012!
And. we've been blown away at how much has been changed in the last six years.
Tami Brown, Aquarium GM and Splash Fund Director, gave a tour highlighting the changes and sharing what's to come.
The Greater Cleveland Aquarium has made some turtle-y radical changes!
By the Spring of 2019, The Greater Cleveland Aquarium will have invested $250,000 in updates and improvements. Many of the changes can be seen now!
We haven't been to the aquarium since 2012!
And. we've been blown away at how much has been changed in the last six years.

Day Tripping to Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky Ohio

Being able to get up and go is one of the best parts of having older kids. Grabbing a day bag and heading out the door is fantastic! And, day trips have become a big part of our family life.
Recently, we were invited to spend the day at
Nestled about an hour from Cleveland is a Northwoods-themed resort waterpark with a game arcade and Scooops Kid Spa.
The waterpark boost 33,000 square feet of indoor aquatic fun! A four-story treehouse water fort with a giant tipping bucket, a hot tub, a lazy river, five splash and play pools, and nine slides.
When the kids want to dry off there is the MagiQuest interactive scavenger hunt game and Cub Club children's activities.
The 271 room resort has a full-service restaurant, four smaller food options including Dunkin Doughnuts and two gift shops. In addition, there are meeting rooms with a full-service event planning.
