Word(less) Wednesday: Getty Owl Foundation Tell 5!

photo from the post Memories In Our Hearts Forever

A few months ago I shared a post about Baby Getty, the Getty Owl Foundation and Lullabies for Getty.  Baby Getty is a sweet bay girl who was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1).  Her parents started a a foundation knowing that a cure may not be possible in Baby Getty's life time but that maybe one would be found one day or at the very least they can educate people about SMA.

So, last month, Mama Getty posted Tell 5! She had the idea that if 5 people, told 5 people, who told 5 people... about SMA it would raise awareness of this horrendous genetic disorder.  SMA, however, is one of the closest neurological diseases that can be treated IF the resources where made available. IF resources are available.

I told 4 women who will become mothers one day...

and one who is a mother now...

and now... I'm telling you.

Word(less) Wednesday: Plane Pull for Special Olympics

Over the weekend my colleagues and I pulled a plane for Special Olympics!  We did not come in first but we were not last either so... hooray us!

I will save you the photos of our pull and share with you some pics from the kid's plane pull that my son participated in.  The kids were divided by age and then into teams.  No idea if they actually timed them but the kids had a blast.  They had so many fun things for the kids to do while their parents pulled the plane it would be worth going to next year even if I don't pull a plane... best part - free!  Bounce houses, Euclid Beach rocket ship and the fire truck spraying water were all a big hit.  It was a great day for the kids as well as for the adults and all for Special Olympics.

Check out the video at the end of this post to see a montage of the teams pulling the plane from our local TV station.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: I Miss the Darkroom

Once upon a time ---- I wanted to be a photographer.

A real, work in a darkroom, photographer and at the time of my big dreams, digital cameras were part of the future.  Way in the future...

But, in the immortal words of John Lennon -
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

Here is where my plans took me...

All the fame I could ever want are in those eyes.

Wordless Wednesday? No, not at all more like Wordy Wednesday

I was going to do a Wordless Wednesday post but since I have not posted anything in a week or so - it just does not seem right...  I actually have a lot to say!  So, today (for me) is Wordy Wednesday!  Everybody else can be wordless :)

I have spent more time on twitter the last two days (not today) then ever before and mainly because I have a raging headache caused by a sinus infection and for some reason I just can't stop logging in and checking it (in between games of angry bird).  It is a mindless distraction from the pain that I feel and since I can't just bury myself in the pillows and go to sleep.. well...  Have iPod will play.

I have an addictive personality - but once I get it out of my system I am done with it forever (for instance: Farmville on FB (stop asking me to join - I am sorry I ever did it)).  The only exception to this is Angry Birds which I can not get enough of... in fact, when I had to reset my iPod touch because I updated the software (and accidentally deleted everything) I was secretly glad because I have to redo ALL the levels and try and get ALL 3 starts again on every level that I had ALready ready done (including the holiday versions and the Eagle version).  Okay, that is pretty sad but eh... sue me.
