DIY Doctor Who Cyberman Costume

DIY Doctor Who Cyberman Costume

This post contains affiliate links.

Over the years, my son has been very creative with his Halloween costumes. When he was three he wanted to be a chef, the following year a stop light, and he's even been a LEGO. This year may have been the most challenging. He wanted to by a Cyberman from Doctor Who.

You would think this would be an easy find considering how popular the show is with cosplayers. The only full costume that I could find is terrible unless you want to go as a classic Doctor Who cyberman and he did not.

A Spooky Pinterest Fail or Cake Pops are the Devil

I was so inspired by this pin from Midwestern Moms that I thought I could totally make those, too!

And, I thought pumpkins are great but I'll make the ghosts.

So, I baked the cake and it tasted good.

Last Minute Halloween Treat: Pinterest win or fail?

Last night I decided to make Halloween treats for my son's third grade class

I scrolled through pinterest and found two ideas that were easy enough and did them.  I'm actually a little proud of these and wanted to share.  No, they are not as pretty as the originals but they were so easy to do and I know the kids will be happy.  Oh, who am I kidding - these could be unrecognizable and the kids would still be happy to get sugary sweets at school.

I also went a little crazy and made chocolate covered pretzels fingers but that was not as hard as I thought it would be and my favorite craft store had 75% off everything Halloween and fall related - score!

(I left the foil on since it was going to school)

Easy peasy, right?

Dip the pretzels in chocolate, put on wax paper and add green chocolate for the steam when it dries.  I put the chocolate in the freezer to make the drying go faster.  While I was doing that, baby girl put the pretzels in the peanut butter cups.

Pinterest win or fail?

OH! So Much to Do This October in Northeast Ohio #happyincle

October is upon us and thank heavens for pumpkin spiced lattes because there is so much to do!  I haunted the world wide web to bring all the things that the kids and I would do if we had unlimited time and money.

Some are free, most are not, but all are guaranteed* to be good fun.  Don't forget to check out the calendar at the bottom!

* I do not really guarantee anything and do call before going

Happy Belated Halloween

My poor suburb.  First, no fireworks on the Fourth of July due to technical difficulties and than the worst storm to hit the east coast hits us at Halloween.  We better hold on to our hats this Thanksgiving and Christmas if this is an indication of what happen during holidays this year.

I, for one, was glad that Halloween was delayed four whole days.  For one, I did not decorate and I forgot that we had to carve a pumpkin, which I still had to buy.  Past years we did some sort of fall activity that involved getting pumpkins but I seemed to avoided all things Halloween until the weekend before and we had so much to do that the last thing I wanted to do was buy and carve pumpkins.

And, than the storm hit.

Schools were closed, power was out and Halloween was delayed.  I had time to buy and carve pumpkins.  And, of course, I waited to long so they were starting to rot.  I carved them anyway, with the help of the kid's designing skills, and they looked just fine by me.

Even if they smelled a little and you only really smelled it if you got right up on them.

As the kids and the Husband went door to door, I sat on the porch, wrapped in an afghan, drinking wine and passing out candy.  Since I typically have to do the trick or treating, I was pretty content.  At least until a little brat asked what was in my jelly jar.  Judge much?

Happy (belated) Halloween!

@BuyCostumes' Spider-man Makes the Comic Book Come to Life

When Spider-man came out a few weeks ago, The Husband took Goofy to see the movie and when he came home he declared, "I want to be Spider-man."   As luck would happen,  I was given a costume to review and The Husband wanted to do his first review.

THE HUSBANDS REVIEW

I guess I should start this post by saying, “I AM A HUGE COMICS FAN.” That’s why when my son wanted to be Spider-man and I notice my wife posting about, "The Amazing Spider-Man Classic Muscle Chest" costume, I was so envious that I took over her blog to write and add my own photos of my 6 year old fighting crime.

This costume makes my 6 year old self, as green as Goblin with envy but I can't call it a costume anymore. It is a suit. First of all, it comes with a full face cowl, so much better than the old Spider-Man "COSTUME" with the paper mask I had when I was a kid. And, instead of the plastic garbage bag like body suit you get a full spandex torso.... with muscles. Don’t forget the gloves and leggings you can order separately. It really sets this Spidey suit apart from all the rest.

Below are a few photos of my crime fighter on his tour of New York City. Last year, my wife and I bought the Super Girl Costume for our daughter from BuyCostumes.com. She still wears it. These costumes are perfect for your true believer.

MY THOUGHTS

I was really impressed with how well both costumes are made and how reasonable the prices are on BuyCostumes.com.  They are made not just for Halloween but to be worn and played in and boy do they love to pretend to save the world one play date at a time.  Buy the costume here, follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook.

We were given the Spider-man costume and gloves to review.  The boot covers and baby girl's costume were purchased separately.  We did not receive any compensation for this review and all opinions are 100% ours.

Word(less) Wednesday: Facebook vs Typos

What was suppose to be a nice sentiment about fall turned dirty because of a typo.

What I was painting that really was a pain.  My kid wanted to be a Lego but painting plastic cups sucks.
