Pinterest Win? Rudolph Snack Mix Recipe

I saw this on Pinterest




Kettle corn, cinnamon candies, and edible eyes with chocolate and pretzels! I am so in!

Making Rudolf mix for C's holiday party tomorrow. It's missing edible eye balls but he thought that was gross anyhow. Not sure if it truly captures the Rudolph idea but it tastes pretty good. #tastetheseason #entry #food #Christmas fun

A Spooky Pinterest Fail or Cake Pops are the Devil

I was so inspired by this pin from Midwestern Moms that I thought I could totally make those, too!

And, I thought pumpkins are great but I'll make the ghosts.



So, I baked the cake and it tasted good.

Last Minute Halloween Treat: Pinterest win or fail?

Last night I decided to make Halloween treats for my son's third grade class. 

I scrolled through pinterest and found two ideas that were easy enough and did them.  I'm actually a little proud of these and wanted to share.  No, they are not as pretty as the originals but they were so easy to do and I know the kids will be happy.  Oh, who am I kidding - these could be unrecognizable and the kids would still be happy to get sugary sweets at school.

I also went a little crazy and made chocolate covered pretzels fingers but that was not as hard as I thought it would be and my favorite craft store had 75% off everything Halloween and fall related - score!

Easy peasy, right?

Dip the pretzels in chocolate, put on wax paper and add green chocolate for the steam when it dries.  I put the chocolate in the freezer to make the drying go faster.  While I was doing that, baby girl put the pretzels in the peanut butter cups.

Because You Always Wanted to Make Guinness Brownies

I really feel the need to preface this post by saying that I am not a food photographer.  As much as I like food, I take really awful pictures of food.  That said, I wish my blog had smell-o-vision as well as a way you can lick the screen to taste my brownies, because these fantastic morsels taste and smell as amazing as they look, I swear.

I am not a fan of making brownies.  I am always worried that I may over or under cook them not to mention having to cut them and I can never cut them to make them look pretty.  Mine look torn and messy.  But, there is this potluck at work and I had this bottle of Guinness begging me to do something with it so I tossed caution to the wind and made - brownies!

I browsed pinterest for just the right recipe.  Spending precious minutes (or hours) gazing at all of the choices that this search gave me.  Brownies, brownies and more brownies all made with that wonderfully dark liquid goodness. I clicked and pinned and pinned and clicked, until I narrowed it down to three that I really liked.

And, finally decided on the recipe that I would use.

Three boxes of Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie and a bottle of Guinness, made as directed but instead of water I used beer, threw mini chocolate chips all over the batter then topped it off with caramel in the last ten minutes of baking.

Party Planning with Pinterest - Summer Time Fun

What did we do before Pinterest when we planned a party?  

Who cares!  

Take a look at what I found for my kid's 7th birthday party this weekend.  I know I won't be making things exactly as pictured but at least I have a better idea of what I will be doing then I did yesterday.

Sweet and Easy 3D Customized Photo Valentines

I just love Valentine's Day now that I have a kid old enough to trade them at school.  I envied the kids whose mom made the ones that they handed out.  Not that there is anything wrong with the store bought ones because they were cool, too, but there seemed to be something extra special about the ones made out of dollies and covered in glitter. 

For as crafty as I think I am, I can not see myself cutting out (or helping to cut out) twenty red hearts, gluing them to dollies that easily tear and then coming up with cute sayings to write on them.  Besides, the box cards come with candy!  Then that damn pinterest came along and I found that there are some really cute ideas that don't involve glue or cutting!  Hooray for pinterest!  What did we do last year?

But seeing as I use to be a photographer and happen to marry one, this idea stood out...

And this is what we came up with...

I made a slit  just above and just below his hand with an exact-o knife and then the photo was glued to card stock. I did the same for Superman photo but off to the side.

Now to tackle a treat for the class...

My First Pinterest and Blogger Love for Parents.com Nominees
